Sallèles is ideally placed for exploring this beautiful
area. To the west and
south-west lie the wine-growing regions of the Minervois and the Corbières,
respectively. Pretty villages, prehistoric sites, spectacular Cathar castles,
caves, rivers, lakes, impressive mountains, fruit farms and olive groves
are
all to be found here. Going south-east we come to the
Mediterranean and
its long stretches of sandy beaches, like Gruissan Plage and Narbonne
Plage.
The 240km long Canal du Midi, a World Heritage site, meanders through
our area and pays a call at Salèlles. Beyond our immediate region
, but well
within a couple of hour's drive are the Languedoc National Park, Andorra,
the Pyrénées and Spain. The road and rail connections from
Narbonne are
excellent.
Airports;- Carcassonne 45 minutes drive. Monpellier and Perpignan
1 hour.
The two most impressive man-made sites that
demand a visit are the
medieval fortified town of Carcassonne
